Solor Island in East Flores regency of East Nusa Tenggara Indonesia

Solor is an island located in the Nusa Tenggara archipelago, namely in the eastern island of Flores. The island is bordered by Lowotobi Strait in the west, north Solor Strait, Strait Lamakera in the east, and south and the Savu Sea.

Administratively, the island of Solor including East Flores regency, East Nusa Tenggara Province, Indonesia. This island is one of two main islands in the archipelago in East Flores regency. Solor island itself consists of two sub-districts: West Solor and East Solor.

Since 1999, southern Solor society aspires to split the new district with the name Southern District Solor by the central government in the Village Kalike. This aspiration, after sticking up for about 5 years, finally stuck in the People Bale East Flores. In 2006, East Flores establish five new districts, but not including the District of South Solor.

East Flores Regency area divided form the 18 districts, namely:

    4. Ile Mandiri
    5. Kelubagolit
    6. Larantuka
    7. West Solor
    8. East Solor
    9. Tanjung Bunga
   10. Titihena
   11. Witihama

   14. Demon Pagong
   15. Lewolema
   16. Ile Bura
   17. Adonara
   18. Middle Adonara

Population Livelihood

    1. Agriculture: Crop, Maize, Cassava, Cassava, Tamarind, Cashew, Coffee, Vanilla, Acid etc.
    2. Fisherman
    3. Entrepreneur
    4. Civil Servants
Tourism Object

    1. Easter-Religious Ceremonies "Semana Santa", in which ordinary city residents do procession carrying the statue of Jesus and Mary as protector and savior of mankind in general and specifically for community Larantuka Larantuka paraded around the city.
    2. Weaving manufacture or some sort of fabric-making process until the cloth is ready to wear using the traditional way.
    3. Marine Tourism, which is enjoying the beautiful beach and island or also conduct activities such as scuba, snorkeling or swimming because the beach and the sea which lay all of them still virgin and not yet destroyed by the hands or waste, whether industrial or household.

Tradition

East Flores community bound by the customs and ordinances that have become traditions from generation to generation that make it as people who really appreciate ethnic, cultural, religious and other races in the life and society.
